We don't talk about this enough.
And I just decided to talk about it because a) I want to be real with you and b) I just had a dream about hand-delivering promotional pumpkins and writing rhymes for food labels. Which is basically my brain entering panic mode.
When you're self-employed you're gonna have good months and bad months.
Finacially, I mean.
Until you hit that sweet "sustainability" spot, that's just the way it's gonna be, especially if you're doing your own thing and walking on untested territory.
And you're probably like me...
You haven't repaid all your student loans yet.
You may be in a living situation you may not fully tolerate.
And you're putting off your dream life and making compromises just to start off your dream business, waiting for that sweet "sustainability" spot.
If that's the case, I see you.
You are not alone in dreaming pumpkins.
And be warned... Your brain is going to go into panic mode a lot.
But don't PANIC. OK? You can always "go back" and get a job. You may think it's the worst thing or maybe you're side-hustling and you don't want to do it forever, but you're a smart, talented human being who can do anything you set your mind to. And if you have to compromise for your creative vision, so be it.
I don't know what's "there" exactly... that ephemeral dream place we're supposed to reach. But I know I'm headed there and I will reassure my self-employed brain today that it doesn't have to be worried about pumpkins and rhymes.
There's freelancing and there's consulting. And there's jobs.
Whatever you have to do to "get there" is so not a big deal and will so be worth it, one day when you look back and smile knowingly at your panic. (In the end, it's just making sure that you are fed and comfortable.)
Until then rebel...
Don't give up your vision just because you have bad days.
Let's take this trip into the unknown together.
I believe we'll get there. :)
